This particular issue also marked InTheaters first full color photo spread, so they chose to use none other than New Yorks hottest photographer, Robert Milazzo. Even the most accomplished photographer needs a good palette from which to work, so the right makeup and hairstyle are very important. And when InTheater asked Madison Avenue for assistance, we jumped at the chance! So off we went to Roberts Manhattan studio for two days of work, fun and excitement with one of the best photographers in the business, not to mention a myriad of Broadway stars! Each of our celebrities had their own unique look, and brought three changes of clothes for their session. Each change of clothes demanded a different look for both hair and (as far as the ladies were concerned) makeup too, so each star basically went from demure to elegant to sexy! In fact, Christiane Noll of Jekyll & Hyde let us wrap her in gold lamé fabric (details on page 2) to create some of the most sizzling photos of the entire shoot.
The photo shoot consisted of a session with each of eight stars including Michael Berresse (Chicago), Michelle Pawk (Cabaret), Steve Buntrock (Les Misérables), Deedee Lynn Magno (Miss Saigon), Brian dArcy James (Titanic), Tsidii Le Loka (The Lion King), Marc Kudisch (High Society), and Christiane Noll (Jekyll & Hyde). Towards the middle of each day when each of the stars sessions began overlapping, the studio was abuzz with pictures being taken, people laughing and joking, publicists and others chatting, editors interviewing the stars, and, of course, us trying to make our subjects look their best. All in all we had a wonderful time. Robert and his staff were quite accommodating to everyone, even though their space had been invaded by so many of us. The staff from InTheater were all as sweet as could be, and the stars couldnt have been nicer or more appreciative. Our goodbyes were filled with hugs and kisses and anticipation for the upcoming issue. Many thanks to InTheater for giving us such a wonderful opportunity. Were looking forward to helping you salute 10 more of Broadway's best next year! This online newsletter is brought to you by |

When Robert Milazzo convinced Christiane Noll of Jekyll & Hyde to remove her sexy black evening gown and don a drape of gold lamé, it was the perfect opportunity for us to experiment with eye colors we dont often get a chance to use. And Christiane was gracious enough to let us have some fun with her gorgeous face. We began Christianes makeup by using Linen (#2) Versatility Wet & Dry Treatment foundation. It gave her great coverage (not that she needed it) and a flawless matte finish. Next we lined her eyes with Midnight Black eyeliner and added Midnight Forest over the top of it. We applied a base of Sandcastle eyeshadow to her lids then used our most elegant golden shades like Gold Dust and 14K to contour and Yellow Gold to highlight. We then applied some Velvette Nude blush to the apples of her cheeks, and a very little bit of Wild Mushrooms under her cheekbones for some contour. And finally, Ms. Nolls lips were lined with Definitely Red lipliner, filled in with Daring lipcolor, and then (the most interesting effect) we brushed her lips with some Yellow Gold eyeshadow. The result? One of the most sexy yet elegant looks weve ever seen. Apparently InTheater thought so too. They printed the picture as a full page shot. Look for Christianes new CD A Broadway Love Story at music stores everywhere! |

Tsidii Le Loka When evaluating Tsidii (pictured above) before applying her makeup, it was hard to decide which of her features were best. Her skin was radiant, her lips full and perfectly shaped, but her eyes seemed to jump out at us as the most attractive part of her fabulous face. We used Midnight Black eyeliner on Tsidii, along with some wonderful violet shades of eyeshadow like Glazed Grapes and Grapevine, with Amethyst to highlight her brow bone. As her foundation we used Versatility Nutmeg, Velvette Plum blush on her cheeks, and To Die For lipcolor lined with Cranberry lipliner. All of the makeup used in Ms. Le Loka's photos is available here at Madison Avenue. |
When Deedee Lynn Magno stepped into Robert Milazzo's studio, we were enchanted not only by her unique beauty, but by her gracious, kind and caring candor. Ms. Magno's charm and naiveté could warm the coldest of hearts, and her beauty could melt what was left. She is truly one the most beautiful women we've ever seen. Deedees elegant look in this picture was achieved by putting her hair in a French twist with a small section of bang left out and straightened. Her soft makeup was applied using Versatility Buff as her foundation for a smooth, matte finish, applied first with a damp sponge for coverage, followed by an application with a brush. On her cheeks we used Velvette Nude blush for some subtle warmth. Her eyes were lined with Midnight Grey eyeliner, and accented with shadows of Dusk, Atmosphere and a highlight of Dawn. Her lips were lined with Nude lipliner, and filled in with Nude Beach lip color. All of the makeup used in Ms. Magno's photos are available at either Madison Avenue salon. |

Michelle Pawk is not only one of the sexiest stars in Cabaret, she's also one of the nicest people we've ever met. After very little convincing, Ms. Pawk was gracious enough to let us cut her curly locks and blow them out into a straighter look for her photo session. We used Alterna's Straightening Balm to blow her hair out, and defined it with Altern'a new Hemp Mud for a look that was new to Ms. Pawk, and very flattering indeed. We sent Michelle home with a supply of Alterna products for her own use, and since then she has told us "They've changed my life! And the bottles look so great on my shelf!" That seems to be the reaction from most of the star's who have tried Alterna products, which is probably why they are the most used hair care products among today's celebrities. Michelles sultry, sexy look began by applying Versatility Ecru foundation with a damp sponge, we then used Velvette Red Earth and Nude blushes to bring the warmth of her red hair to her cheeks. Her eyes were lined with Midnight Forest eyeliner, and we used Pea Pod and Adobe eyeshadows on her lids. Her brow bone was highlighted with Sandcastle. Michelles lips were lined with Beyond Nude lipliner, and were filled in with Afternude lip color (to which she jokingly quipped "Afternude? It must be a cigarette!") We actually had to use Fluidity and Versatility foundations to cover a bruise on Michelle's leg which she received during one of her shows, but ssshhhh! Dont tell anyone! If you haven't seen Cabaret yet (and many of us haven't since the conde Nast scaffolding incident), you must get to the Kit Kat Club soon! Alan Cummings is superb, Michelle Pawk sizzles, and newcomer Jennifer Jason Leigh makes one of the greatest Sally Bowles ever to hit the stage. |
